The spin speed of top loading and front loading machines also differ. A top loading machine can spin at speeds up to 1,000 rpm. This is much greater than the top loading machine which only averages a speed of 650 rpm. What this means is that more water is removed from the laundry in a front loading machine which means less drying time.
