On an average every person sleeps an entire third of their life. Consumers always look for comfort, and manufacturers always try to deliver their best. Craftsmen have taken strives to develop quality sleeping products as early as the 17th century. In the latter half of the 20th century there is a great explosion of technological innovation; water, springs and memory foam became the major players in the construction process of memory foam.

The most exciting of these comfort innovations is the memory foam mattresses. Memory foam has captured the hearts of millions of consumers worldwide with a promise to provide support, comfort, durability and unique sleeping experience through their mattresses.

Initially, it was first developed by the NASA in 1966 as a durable and shock absorbing material to be used in the seats of aircraft. This material was developed by combining thousands upon thousands of intricately connected, independent air pockets. These pockets were collapsible in proportion to the amount of force exerted upon them; air pockets directly received this pressure, and thus result in collapsed of most.

Further with continuous development in this field, another popular alternative option for memory foam has emerged, know and mattress topper. Memory foam mattress topper is basically the cover that is preferred on the mattress to increase its density and flexibility. It helps in evening out the surface of the mattress. From certain researched done by some individual companies, almost 90 percent of the foam mattress users have this belief that topper adds more comfort to the bed and gives a deep and better night sleep. The mattress toppers are cheaper than memory foam mattress. The differences in the prices are basically of the difference in the quality of the topper and also in the thickness of the material used for its manufacturing.
